The medium-sized blue-coloured diary of the tainted cricketer has details such as phone numbers of women.

Arrested Rajasthan Royals cricketer S Sreesanth scribbled ‘Oh God! Please save me” twice in his diary, investigations into the spot-fixing scandal has revealed. Though the India Test player is known to be a god-fearing man, the repeated mention of him seeking divine intervention has left investigators baffled. They are trying to figure out whether Sreesanth had an inkling that he would be arrested or if the maverick bowler was forcefully involved in the fixing scandal.
The Mumbai crime branch seized Sreesanth’s diary from his room in Sofitel Hotel at the Bandra-Kurla Complex during raids on Saturday. The medium-sized blue-coloured diary of the tainted cricketer has details such as phone numbers of women.
A crime branch official told dna that the first page of the diary only has “Oh God! Please save me” written on it. Sreesanth has scribbled his name several times on the next page, but thereafter, he has not followed any pattern. “He has randomly written anywhere and put pen to paper only on a few pages. There are a few sentences in Malayalam and then again somewhere in the middle of the diary he has written — Oh God! Please save me,” the officer said.
“We are trying to ascertain why the cricketer has written that and its context. We are trying to find out if Sreesanth was forced into doing something he was not willing to or whether he had realised that the police were zeroing in on him after getting information about his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal,” the officer told dna.
The cricketing fraternity knows Sreesanth is a religious person and often uses terms like Swamiye Sharanamaiyappa, god is great, god’s grace and praise the lord after his return from Sabarimala.
A police officer said investigators will dial the numbers of women mentioned in the diary and find out if they were involved in spot-fixing during the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbai police also plan to approach the Delhi court to seek permission to question Sreesanth.
Apart from the diary, the crime branch found an iPad, a Mac, Blackberry mobile phone and Rs72,000 in cash from Sreesanth’s room at Sofitel Hotel. “His iPhone has 1,500 numbers with almost 25 per cent of them of air hostesses. The Blackberry phone did not have a battery,” said an officer.
The bowler had booked a room in the hotel even though the Rajasthan Royals team was staying at Trident Hotel, Marine Drive. Interestingly, Jiju Janardhan, one of the arrested bookies, was also staying in Sofitel hotel.
Sreesanth and his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested last Thursday for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing.
